Skippers Beach in Subic Bay - Philippines

When people speak of beaches they usually think of those in Boracay or Puerto Galera, but if you want to try something new, one of the spots you can explore is the Skipper Beach in Subic.

Like the other beaches in the area the waters here are pure and dirt free. Just as the rest of Subic is kept spotless and clean, so are the beaches. Swimming in the waters can be an exhilarating and uplifting experience.

For some the times to take the plunge will be in the early mornings when there are fewer people and you can savor the quietude. Others will prefer the afternoon where they can go out and spend it with their friends frolicking in the waters. Aside from swimming at the Skipper Beach in Subic, you can also play water based games like volleyball.

Watching the sunset is another favorite pastime and the views afforded here are among the best. The morning skies are tinged with pink and blue shades, and watching the colors shift and change as the sun rises can make for some stunning pictures. You can also photograph its waters, which are a brilliant blue. The refreshing waters make it an ideal place to bathe and swim, and delving deeper you can see some fascinating sites beneath the surface. The views of the mountains receding from the shore are also captivating.

Of course, strolling along the sands is always a favorite activity, and it is best done in the early morning where everything is mostly quiet and you can just listen to the wind blow, the sand move beneath your feet and sound of birds chirping.

Skipper Beach in Subic can be found at Barangay Kalakan in Olongapo City, which is in close proximity to the Subic Freeport Area. There is an entrance fee of about 150 Php (the price may be lower on weekdays). Like other privately owned beaches, it is opened in the morning and will close before six in the evening. In addition there are also some cottages in the vicinity where you can get the amenities you need like food or beach equipment (tables, lounges etc). The cost of the facilities vary between 50 to 150 Php.

Although it is true that the marine parks and the wreck sites are among the most popular tourist attractions in the area, you may want to head over to Skipper Beach in Subic sometime, where you can savor the beautiful views and the refreshing waters.
