A visit to Subic can become quite a vacation and sometimes you might want to stay there for at least a few more days. Others who visit the place for business may also want to make an extended stay. Part of the issue with extending a foreigner's stay in Subic and in the Philippines for that matter is getting visa extensions for an extended stay.

Visa Regulations in the Philippines

The Philippines has diplomatic ties with a lot of other countries in the world. One of the hospitalities extended by local laws in the country is that nationals from such countries with which the country has diplomatic ties with may enter its territory without a visa. What such nationals only need to bring with them are valid passports. Another rather simple requirement is that such nationals should bring with them their tickets to their next country of destination. Of course, the complementary stay has a limit to it, which is actually 21 days - after which other requirements will become necessary.

Nationals who do not belong to any state or nation or countries with which the country has no diplomatic ties will be required to obtain a visa as well as other necessary requirements. Those who carry passports from Taiwan and Hong Kong are required to bring with them their special permits. Balikbayan Visas are granted to previous citizens of the country. A foreign national who is married to a native of the Philippines and their children may also acquire this particular visa. The Balikbayan Visa is good for a 12-month stay in the country.

Getting Visa Extensions in Subic

Those on vacation in Subic who want to extend their stay or those on business who might need to do so as well may get visa extensions. The first extension you can get after the first 21-day stay in the Philippines will last for 59 days. You will have to get another extension if your stay here requires additional days beyond the 59-day extension. You'll have to apply for further extensions as well.

If you do plan to get visa extensions you'll have to contact the Immigration Office of the Philippines. Branches of the Immigration Office are located in Manila along Magallanes Drive. They also have other offices in other locations such as Cebu City, San Fernando in La Union, and Angeles City.

You need to fill out a visa extension application, photocopies of your passport, and payment for the necessary fees. However, you don't have to travel all to the way to an Immigration Office just to get an extension since you are not required to this in person. There are hotels, resorts, and travel agencies in Subic that offers visa extension services and does all this for you. You might pay a little extra for the service but it saves you from all the hassle and the long trip.
